. By December 2008, Brnović appeared to be match-fit and ready to play competitive matches. Later that month Partizan started looking into options of moving him on loan for the first six months of his comeback. In mid January 2009, Brnović's loan move to FK Rad was announced. In summer 2009 Nenad moved to FK Budućnost Podgorica. Two years later he moved to Iranian Mes Sarcheshmeh, where he spent six months during which he played 18 games and scored three goals. In January 2012. he signed for Albanian club Vlaznia, but after the end of that season he came back to Montenegrin championship. During the first half of the season 2012–13. he played for Mogren, and during the second for Zeta. The last two seasons of his career as a professional player (2013-15.) he spent in Lovćen, with which he won a Montenegrin Cup (2014).

After finishing his playing career in summer 2015. Brnović became the assistant coach in Zeta. He assisted the manager

, but when Martać got fired after the series of bad results Brnović replaced him bringing Zeta its first championship win after four defeats. After two championship wins, one draw, and two defeats (the second was against the later champions Mladost) the club management decided to hire much more experienced Dejan Vukićević, and Brnović became the manager of Zeta's youth team.
